Headline of the Week: Dallas Sniper Kills 5 Officers, Wounds 7
A day after this incident, I want to share with you a FEEL GOOD story that happened to me in an unusual place and time, in a COSTCO parking lot, shortly after the shooting.
An event that happened to me that created UNITY rather than division. Unity not division needs to be our discussion in days ahead.
The event is one that happened to me when leaving COSTCO and what transpired was something wonderful and hopeful that could have happened to you as it did to me.
Even though this event was not unique, what transpired afterwards was the hope of American and the Unity that each American seeks.
To begin our story, I and my wife, are primarily vegans. So when I shop at COSTCO I mainly purchase vegetables and fruits because I believe they have some of the best produce and a fairly good selection too.
So here I am coming out from the store with many other paper products in the bottom of my cart and a box of fruits and vegetables were on top. So I am sure you can guess what happened.
So I hit a small stone coming outside and all of a sudden the box with all of our fruit fell onto the parking lot. The next thing, there were tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries and black berries rolling every which way all over the pavement.
So here to my rescue came several people out of nowhere.
Just image the scene that followed, as 4 people rushed forward to help. All of us were intently picking up these fruits and vegetables and placing them back into containers.
I remember the face of this wonderful Caucasian woman who told me her story that the same thing happened to her last week. I saw an African American gentleman jump in and help.
Who also came to my rescue were a man either from India or Pakistan and an Oriental gentleman too. It was as if a whole group of United Americans rushed forward to help and what was so special was that this all happened one day after all of those tragic shootings.
I swear that what happened to me in a COSTCO parking lot brought out the best of America during my moment of need. It brought out the best of people of many different races, religions and cultures during that day, somehow, we all became one.
