If you are Christian like I am, we all carry within our mind’s eye a picture of Jesus or as how we think He might have looked. My picture of Him is not dead nor is it stoic as so many pictures I see. It is because I believe in a Jesus who was very much ALIVE. I see Jesus dancing and singing and in many ways I am very Jewish myself, at least in my own vision of how Jesus lived His life, and how I wish to live mine.
What I notice when reviewing so many Jesus paintings, is how STOIC, are most of these pictures. Most Christians I know within their mind sees Him nailed on the Cross or in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane including many other somber settings. What they forget is that Jesus was very much a Jewish man, so to Jesus dancing was His way of life and because His life was a vibrant one.
To start his calling off, Jesus’ first miracle was of changing water into wine which was at a marriage at Cana. Whether it was at His own marriage (most Jewish men were married which was and is an important part of their culture) and Him being called Rabbi, it could have been His own marriage or simply He was attending the marriage of a family member.
However, Him being a Jewish man, it is certain that Jesus danced at this Wedding and many other similar Jewish feasts and celebrations.
Here is another reference of dancing and singing Jesus made, in Matt 11:17, when He stated, "'We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.”
My personal picture of Jesus is one of Him dancing is because as He said, “The Kingdom of God” in not a time or place (EXTERNALLY founded), but lies within you”. And I believe that Heaven is a place in which singing and dancing are permitted and can be a fun place to live.
Yes as we dance our bodies should be lively and we become very much ALIVE. In fact, we should be dancing every minute of our day to become as vibrant. It is this ALIVENESS of Jesus that is my ideal on how my life should be lived as I believe; yours as well.
Well if you will remember, Jesus message was that we adults need to become child-like again. Well, for years I couldn’t figure it all out until one day I saw a miracle. I saw two little girls at the ages of about 3 or 4 holding hands and skipping in church. I said, to myself, “Hell I can do that”. So every morning whenever, I awake I put a skip in my step, and I do the same while at work or at home, Well, guess what, by applying this simple gospel message, skipping has changed my life forever. Why, because my whole attitude on life from that day on, has never been the same.
As a final statement I have added Raj Rghunathan Ph. D. “Grow to Be a Child” In July 12, 2011 of Psychology Today, suggestion. He advises, “In sum, becoming childlike really takes a variety of abilities: awareness of why we lose our childlikeness, courage to challenge society's views about what's worthy of pursuit, and, finally, intelligence to figure out an alternative set of rules by which to live. In short, it isn't child's play to be childlike; in fact, it takes great maturity to be childlike.”
And because Jesus danced and probably skipped too, and celebrated life, so should you.
In an article titled “Whatever you Do, Don’t Wobble”, by Scott Jeffrey, he references an ancient Zen proverb that says, “In walking, just walk. In sitting, just sit. Above all, don’t wobble."
So how do your stop wobbling, but through apply daily practice to bring LIFE into the PRESENT and the DIVINE.
Scott further states, “Hesitation, confusion, frustration, lethargy, apathy, and anger are all forms of resistance. When we let them go, we are liberated, entering a state of effortlessness that makes life’s adventures infinitely more enjoyable.”
He goes on to say, “The point of the proverb is not about multitasking, but about nonresistance. Resistance obstructs the natural flow of our thinking and acting throughout the day. Degrees of resistance vary, but any level of resistance depletes our energy and hinders our state of flow. In a state of nonresistance, we find a natural way of being in the world—at work and at home.”
The problem is that many women carry around with them so many “not being enough mental dialogues” they also carry around a lot of resistance of which creates many of those negative emotions, and which we human’s experience in life’s trying daily moments.
Finding a way of true practice, of the spiritual sort, is what spiritual women do. As you find a daily practice like Yoga or meditation; you can become a personal journey that works for them. Why does a person need to apply some sort of daily practice?
Jeffrey goes on to state, “Every aspect of Zen culture like the tea ceremony, archery, calligraphy, or fencing is performed with a one-pointedness of mind on the task at hand. No wobbling allowed.”
Moving yourself from your human world of drama of past/future meanderings to enter a new world of the present is where you begin to experience living from SPIRIT. Once you do this, is when your wobbling will stop.
I want you to begin to see daily practice as training wheels that can placed on a bike. Every child as he or she learns to ride, his or her parents will put training wheels on so that they get the hang of it and not have to crash. But once a child gains a sense of balance, is when we take them off. I want you to see that this metaphor can be true about applying daily practice.
The only difference between daily practice and adding training wheels to a bike is that you won’t ever remove them but to make it work best you will apply your practice for life.
I still practice meditation but the only difference from when I started to where I am with this skill, is I have gotten faster and better at becoming mindful which when apply mindfulness it is by moving from a negative way of thinking and switching to a more positive thinking which is reinforced by my continuous daily breathing meditation practice. This is what being skilled is about. And those living in a lesser world, and not awaken, have not recognized this practice.
Because I have practiced for micro meditation for many years, if I find myself in the human world too long, I can enter the divine in 30 seconds or less, simply by applying breathe. The more you practice you do. The more skillful you will become and the faster you can make this transition. Every now and again as I am working on my computer and I am in that other world of thought, I can within 3 – 5 deep breaths; enter into spirit.
Daily practice of the different practices I suggest of air (meditation), body (Yoga), Food eating (mainly fruits and vegetables), and water (enjoying the ocean, or taking long baths or showers) can become like adding training wheels from your practice so you can move you out from your human world; the world of WORK or negative thought, and eventually when you are expertly skilled, even at a glance, you can enter the world I’ll call Nirvana or SPIRIT.
I use mindfulness daily. A good way to examine what your practices are trying to achieve is that once you are fully into your BODY self, it becomes a time when you are fully PRESENT, and when you are fully present is when you are in SPIRIT. That is why you need to find a daily practice that works best for you. So here might be some practices.
For example, as a woman you might decide daily to either meditate 1 or 10 minutes a day or do yoga, and even take long baths 3 – 4 times a week. And you may take long showers in between. If you can decide to take Yoga, I strong recommend yoga for most women, but not HOT YOGA, as much as solitary yoga, so as to enter a state of rest. This will help you through using its form of body poses and mindful meditation to achieve spirituality.
Also, you might decide to add to these other practices such as attending church, a synagogue or mosque or going or even nature walks weekly. All these and many other combinations you can enjoy; which becomes a form of practice towards entering your SPIRIT. The more you can do this daily, the better you will reach your spiritual attainment.
In fact as a better metaphor it is like daily plugging in and recharging your iPhone. You have to plug it in if not daily often or there will be no Internet connection. The same is true with your SPIRIT, you need to apply daily practice that works best for you so you recharge your spirit and gain some sort of sanity in this insane world. Or as the expression suggests, doing these practices is how you where can finally stop wobbling. And remember, you are doing all of this, so you can experience your divine self. Learning how to enter spirit daily is to be skilled. The ultimate skill you gain in applying micro meditations frequently throughout your day is to live experimentally of spiritual most times of each day.
If you have watched either the Oscars or the Golden Globes, you will have seen all these glamourous women stars strutting like peacocks with all their finery on the Red Carpet. Most of them decked out in the most gorgeous gowns by the finest creators, stunning hairdos, and rich jewels, appearing to the world that they are the best.
However, if you will note this Red Carpet event only lasts one night and once it’s all over and those stars have to return home, remove their dresses, makeup and all that finery and get back to their bossy husbands and noisy children again. Somehow, all this expense and feeling marvelous was merely a short run windfall and unreal.
I only share this with you because I believe that most women out there live a more simple life that doesn’t have to doll up, and enter the Red Carpet pageantry to express their true femininity. In fact, I believe that in many cases beautiful women might have a more difficult time expressing there’s because they depend so much on externalities to feel of value. But in many cases less attractive women, might turn to more enriching ways to enter nirvana.
Case in point, one day I went for a walk which I do in the desert daily and happened upon a depressed man in his late 50’s. He was telling me how his job and his drive back and forth to work, a job that was not his first choice, but one he had to rely on it to survive. Yes, there are many individuals both men and women in that same position from which they all tend to live from survival. Many depressed; some are on drugs, and many more just trying to getting by on autopilot.
Well, during our walk he told me that he wished he could be more like his sister. He proceeded to tell me that his sister was a plain looking woman and didn’t wear fancy clothes, extreme hairdos or expensive makeovers but he said she has a flow of confidence as she walks. He then asked me how come his sister who is unattractive, and can still appear so stunning.
I knew right there what extra dimension she had. Here is this wonderful sensual lady who was so feminine appealing, she was incorporating a wonderful inner practice, which included simple daily rituals that she herself had created over the years, and which helped display a divine spark that she radiated within.
I knew what his sister had going for her. Through some sort of daily practice one being Yoga and meditation and where she was able to create a sensual life, something that many celebrities and beautiful women would have hoped throughout their lifetime to experience, and she didn’t need any Red Carpet to feel feminine magnificent.
Yet after our walk had ended I couldn’t explain to him what his sister’s secret was. It is like trying to explain to a person what orange juice tastes like. For him to understand how his sister lived, he would have to go through a similar life experience. So telling him how his sister lived and why she was so much together, I know wouldn’t help him one iota.
I realized that he had to find his own way to experience her inner beauty by him creating his own daily practice as his sister had done. Unfortunately, I know I could only offer him some hint of her daily practice, which I did hoping to get him started.
Because there is so much social pressure women of today have so many divergent choices, making their lives a difficult.
Some are stuck trying to climb the corporate ladder and feel they are missing out on marriage and family. Others who are divorced and are feeling guilty for not making their marriage work. Then there those stay at home moms who miss their careers and wish they could return back to work.
Also, there are women and in particular young girls who don’t like but hate their body’s image, and feel either guilt, shame or both…. And the list goes on.
Well, then there are single women who believe that they cannot attract a man and who become either depressed or angry. Besides, there are other women who are unhappily married and who tend to take out their anger by using alcohol, food or sex as a substitute for not receiving love. Next, there are religious women who believe that they are unworthy and who will use religion towards a supposition of their own personal righteousness.
Lastly, there are those women who are distressed and who are addicted, and due to depression will use either alcohol; drugs, sex or any alternative substance as a means of denial as a cover-up to some painful past that they have experienced. These women might be married or single.
The problem here with all of these women experiences, though they may seem to be different is that it is they are all carry this same painful source, many unknowingly. It is that all of these women are not experiencing soul connection and are using external means or practices as a substitute to experiencing a divine connection.
Yes and many of these women, are living from the outside/in and therefore are doomed to failure. Why they do is because they fail to recognize that living from the inside/out is their only source of divine connection.
Remember, it is as Jesus stated over 2,000 years ago, stated that the “Letter kills us but it’s the Spirit that Gives us Life”. Living from spirit is yours to experience and that is available to all; or all those who are willing to discover happiness internally.
While reading this blog, I hope to examine both the cause and a solution of your experiences as your read many of these pages. I hope that at least one or two of your readings will help you discover your divine selves by experiencing both your human body and divine spiritual natures.
Equilibrium Exists between Pleasure and Pain
Eckhart Tolle in his book, “A New Earth” suggests that people in the West are stuck in Pain of which he calls it “Pain Body”. He infers that if people cannot get through their pain, then they deny themselves the ability of experiencing pleasure.
Most people in the West he suggests experiences “Pain Body” because as soon as they experience pain, they push that pain away and instead pretend it doesn’t or didn’t exist so they won’t feel the pain and if they did feel it Tolle suggests, they could allow it to slowly dissolve.
That is why women and men have so much fear, guilt, shame as they over and over again, reconnect with so many of their past negative emotions. The problem is that so many people are STUCK in PAIN, and don’t know how to let it go or are afraid to do so.
They don’t realize that in the “Law of Attraction” it states what think you don’t want is what God or the Universe will return to you. And so what goes around comes around not only with our abusive acts but also from our reckless thoughts that creates our own despair.
So what is the solution? Being Human is all about experiencing in your life both pain and pleasure. That’s why being STUCK in PAIN is a problem? In fact, whether a person is rich, famous or a plain Jane, the law of equivalency returns what you think about the most and or what you think you don’t want.
For example, if you think daily I don’t like being poor, well that is what you’ll become impoverished.
So what is the only formula that will remove “Pain Body”? This is another law of equivalency formula, which goes something like this. As soon as you experience your pain and refuse to push it away and then feel the pain and go with it. Remember, pain acts like a storm and will only last for a few minutes or hours, but within less than a day, like the sun returning in the sky, your pleasure will return.
Remember what Proverbs states, “And this shall pass”, and pain does pass, if you experience it and don’t run from it and once the storm goes away, soon it will leave and the next day the sun will rise. It always does so does pleasure follow pain. That is what Equilibrium is all about. People in pain, fail at this process miserably and hold onto rather than learning how to let it go.
Jesus said it right when he said, that once we experience true human emotions is when we can enter the divine. In fact, experiencing our divine natures is what He referred to as entering “The Kingdom of God”. Those persons who are entering “The Kingdom of God” are those who can experience both their human and divine natures.
Short Run Body / Soul Solutions (Breath, Body, Food and Water Practices)
You heard the expression of “Being Comfortable in Your Own Skin”; too often people don’t know what that means or are not aware of how this process occurs. The first thing we have to do to enter into “The Kingdom of God” is that we need to get out of our HEADS. We humans are in negative thought nearly 80% of day which is also 24/7; or who experience Tolle’s “PAIN BODY”. That is why it is sometimes referred to by some authorities as STINKING/THINKING.
Most people are unaware, that their thoughts are killing them unless they learn to take daily time outs through apply Micro Meditation. I will explain this process in a later blog post. Meanwhile, those individuals stuck in PAIN BODY are unaware too, that there is a strong alignment between their body and their spirits.
Taking time outs through breathe and learning how to tune into their body through Micro Meditation, is what people need to do. By the way recognizing that your body is a gift from God, and that it is the seat to your feelings, and that your body is a means of tuning into your spirit like receiver, acts like receiving a radio frequency transmission.
Your practice is to apply any of the below practices at least 3 to 4 times a week. Also, many of these practices and many more may be discussed in greater depth as our blog progresses.
