Woman's Secret ~ In Search of your UNIQUE Self and the Creation of a New Direction for “The Woman Hub”
In Search of UNIQUE Living begins with your lifestyle choice:
We are going to be not only studying different spiritual traditions and meditative choices, but "The Woman Hub" will introduce American women and other non-American women, different lifestyles in other countries all over the globe.
We have decided to pattern some of our dialogues much similar to "The Huffington Post" minus its political jabbering's. Also, we wanted to create what is similar to a “Woman’s Day” periodical for Millennials. We believe that sticking to women lifestyles issues and avoiding the politics of our day, which in many ways is a man’s world, is a much better approach is to leave that topic to men.
We want to purposely end hunting and your choosing gathering, instead.
In fact, I would suggest that you read "French Women not only speak French, but "Joie de Vive" or Being ALIVE, and many other women lifestyles in other countries, to find your very own “TRUE Life’s PASSION". We believe that our “The Woman Hub” blog will offer you a better sense of living.
Yes, and that is because our goal is simply to offer American and other women around the globe, as a Women's Movement and discuss different lifestyle choices. Life is all about choice, so the more information you have to choose, the better lifestyle you will find.
We began about 4 to 6 months ago as www.woman4spirituality.com. We became so successful that we decided to discuss more woman topics; and to create an additional URL which is now called www.thewomanhub.com.
Also, I have decided to make this into a digital “Woman’s Day” type of journal and in particular to reach Millennial women. But our woman day messages, we hope will go global.
Gen X and Baby Boomers you too are welcome, but with our research, we have discovered that many Millennial women no longer read newspapers and buy woman day magazines or periodicals, so woman day magazine sales have been dropping. Somehow, this information needs to be available, because every day woman issues will always be popular, and many women issues on being human at any age or generation, are similar.
However, we believe that now that we are moving digital, women all over the world still desire to learn from other women and better ways to live.
The only difference is that instead of paying for a women issue magazine and receiving it in the mail, offering a free digital service, but us over time adding a few products for sale to pay the rent, which by you buying any of our products in our store, will allow us in offering you this information for FREE.
Besides, having you purchase our products is better than asking you for a donation.
Here are some of the topics that we will entertain as “The Women Hub” evolves:
Many of us are overly swayed by the press who talk so incessantly on the lifestyles of the "Rich and Famous", many of these women we believe, if you took away their wealth or their fame, live boring lives. It is because we believe that women issues are all the same no matter what is your economic or social background.
We believe that gaining your unique lifestyle; is something that many of these other women fail to do, which is available to all women, whatever culture, religion or race.
But learning the above issues, globally, by adding mindfulness skills and also learning about how other women live, we feel that your life will become greatly enriched regardless of your personal wealth, or social stature, and discovering your very own unique lifestyle, we can do it together.
Somehow, you owe it to yourself to shop around for different lifestyle ideas and search for how other woman around the globe live. That way, you might decide to become a brand new person with a renewed lifestyle choice. That is what "The Woman Hub', intends for you to do.
Benefits of Meditation ~ How to Reduce Your Personal Suffering by Awakening to Buddha’s “Four Noble Truths”
Luke 12:24 ~ consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
Here is one misunderstood scripture. Jesus is suggesting that to experience the Kingdom of God, one needs to be fully present. This is where the ideas of Jesus and Buddha merge.
Awaking to the "Four Noble Truths: is similar to what Jesus taught in Judea. In fact, many Christians glide right past that scripture offering no idea on what it means, In fact, being always present is what Jesus as well as Buddha taught. In this way, there messages were similar.
The "Four Noble Truth" came to Buddha when he was sitting under the Bodhi tree. It was Buddha that was walking all over Asia, both in India and China trying to discover the meaning of life. It took sitting under the Bodhi tree quietly, before the whole meaning of life, to Buddha and the world, emanated.
In this topic, we will discuss Buddha's findings. Also, it is claimed by some that Buddhism is not really a religion but a philosophy, but more important it is a human skill if adopted will change your life forever.
That is where mindfulness entered, which science today is finding is one's best way to be happy. Let me explain why in our next rendition.
The whole idea of the “Four Noble Truths” discovered by Buddha as he sat meditating under the Bodhi tree is that all people suffer.
The reason we suffer is because of attachment to things that give us pleasure. It is as if we humans set ourselves up to suffer as we push for good things to happen rather than letting life happen on its own. So when things don’t go our way, we suffer emotionally.
Buddha suggests that there is a solution to end suffering. It is the cessation of suffering that Buddha suggests is removed if we stop trying to force good outcomes.
Living from intention is slightly different way to approach life and allows us to set goals, but allow for their appearance on its own. Instead, a person will hope a good thing may happen to her, but not force results. Therefore if one hopes, and it doesn’t happen, there is no emotional downer one experiences.
Also, cessation also occurs as one’s meditative practice gets better and one is able to fine tune her mindfulness practice whenever she experiences any emotional attachment set up in her mind.
That is how meditation can act as a solution to one’s daily suffering, and through breath, let go of any feelings of attachment and eliminate suffering and for one to become happy again.
To further the cessation of suffering, this is where meditation and practice daily overtime can reduce one’s need towards attachment and create less and less suffering until the need of mental attachment and suffering finally STOPS.
However, in the case of most human beings attachments usually never stop, but one now has a skill set by using meditation through mindfulness towards its reduction. That is what mindfulness is all about is discovering the skill of its cessation of suffering whenever any attachment need arises.
Iranian women, in search for identity and freedom, in www.mystealthyfreedom.net below, remove their hijab over their heads in protest to quietly fight the legal consequence of going to jail for not wearing the hijab over their heads in public.
The Stealthy Freedom movement began back in 1979 and this quiet revolution continues today. However, Iranian authorities are doing their best to stamp it out, with limited success.
When I attended college, back some years ago, I had several Iranian women in my graduate classes. It was during the time of the Shah and I found they were very attractive wearing American clothing and being a part of the American culture. In fact, I talked to many Iranian students and I was very impressed with them.
Something drastic happened in Iran with the overthrow of the Shah. After a regime change, I talked to several Iranian women prior to an event and right after and discovered that it drastically changed their lives forever.
Let me share with you what happened to them, and why the Iranian Stealthy Freedom movement is so important.
But as soon as Ayatollah Khomeini took over power from the Shah, I witnessed an interesting phenomenon. Those women who were educated and eligible for citizenship remained in their American clothing and immigrated into the US. While those who couldn’t immigrate and were ready to return to Iran, were forced to wear a hijab, and cover their heads.
In fact, they told me that after Iranian Political party changed if they wouldn't have changed into wearing their traditional Iranian clothing, that there were moles around campus that would tell on them once they returned home. They also told me that many, who wouldn’t make this transition, would be in difficult straits and would possibly be placed in jail. There was so much fear with these beautiful women, that I could cut their fear with a knife.
Not only wearing a hijab, but a women singing in public is also forbidden in Iran. Many times Iranian want to sing either their joys or sorrows, but this is also forbidden. So many women take to seclusion to sing and to feel what is deep down within their hearts. Several women will play the guitar in secret and sing alone to experience the joy of being whole and one.
So today, due to Facebook, Twitter and other Social Networks, a quest for freedom through the movement of Stealthy Freedom has emerged, uniting women much like the 1897 Suffragette movement to demand the right for women to vote, in the US and Europe.
I have purposely added three links. The first is for our Iranian Sisters. To see the Suffragette Movement what happened to the women movement in the past in Britain in the early 1900’s. I show you this, so women in Iran and other Moslem countries can see how other women claimed their freedom, to see why women in developed countries today are free.
Also, second link I added to show women in the US and in other developed countries the trials of Iranian and other Moslem women, to visualize their plight so their trials are not buried but are open all women to see.
It is the role of “The Woman Hub. Com’s women’s movement is four our readers to become aware of the suffering of these women so we can offer them our undivided support and our heartfelt compassion for their plight. We believe the more transparent is their situation globally, the better chance that sometime soon, our sister’s freedom will emerge.
As for meditation, I offer you in prayer a 5 X 5 X 5 X 5 meditation practice. It is very simple Sufi style practice. You take 5 Deep Breaths in, next 5 strong breathes out where each lasts for 5 seconds with each in and out breathe and do it 5 prayer times a day. This will take you only 5 minutes a day as a form of meditation.
We believe applying this Breathe Sufi meditation can offer you in your plight a peaceful daily practice. And third, I added a video on Sufi meditation one such practice as Rumi a great Persian poet might have practiced.
For US Women to View
Experiencing God in this LIFE through Sufi Meditation
There are manifold Sufi meditation techniques for quieting the mind and reaching meditative states. In this video, Shankar Nair, Ph.D., focuses specifically on what’s known in Sufism as Fikr, sometimes referred to as Muraqaba—techniques that help focus the mind through invoking God’s name.
Benefits of Meditation ~ How Meditation Reduces Stress among Inmates; Improves Recidivism by over 50%
For years prisons have been searching for ways to reduce the cycling of prisoners who once they are let out quickly return back to their previous incarceration situation.
With the huge costs of prisoner and the time they are incarcerated, administrators finding out the mediation helps, they have been delighted.
Well, somehow mediation and even Yoga has been introduced into prisons over the last decade, and there has become a huge improvement in prisoner recidivism and in improving lives.
In fact, many prisoners are there because they have physical and mental problems that they have never been able to solve.
Therefore, meditation practice has helped these inmates, many of them transform from bad duds into nice gentlemen. I will be adding a discussion along with videos, that we hope will explain how meditation practice has provided a miracle, for each of them.
Why Mindfulness Practices Using Meditation Works So Well on Improving Recidivism in Prisons is a Less Costly Solution
“Over the last several decades, there have been several promising developments in our approach to the challenges of crime and criminal justice. This paper will focus on two of these developments: contemplative practices (including meditation and mindfulness) within the prison system and restorative justice.
It may not be immediately apparent how these two disparate developments apply to the criminal justice system, but it is the intention of this paper to show that these two trends can come together in a way that can be applied in the prison system.
I will also discuss the benefits of meditative or contemplative practices, both in general and specifically to the their value in a correctional setting. Meditative and contemplative practices are derived primarily from the Eastern religions, especially Buddhism.
Most notable are the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MSBR) programs and mindfulness-based cognitive therapies (MBCT) that have emerged from the work begun by Jon Kabat-Zinn thirty years ago.
MBSR programs have demonstrated successes in a variety of areas, especially the medical and behavioral sciences.
Additionally, recent findings in the field of neurobiology demonstrate how these programs can actually alter the brain through its capacity for neuroplasticity, the brains ability to develop new connections and neurons.
Because the brain has this capacity, meditation practices can actually “rewire” or alter the brain in ways that literally change the mind and lead to more prosocial behaviors (Siegal, 2007, 2010), thereby offering the possibility of a truly Benefits of Mindfulness Meditation in a Corrections Setting 4 transformative corrections program.”
Incarceration Costs in the US alone are Horrendous
Did you know that the cost to incarcerate a prison in NY is $60,000 a year. On total it costs the US Federal and State are as follows according to Vera:
“Vera researchers found that the total taxpayer cost of prisons in the 40 states that participated in this study was 13.9 percent higher than the cost reflected in those states’ combined corrections budgets. The total price to taxpayers was $39 billion, $5.4 billion more than the $33.5 billion reflected in corrections budgets alone.
The greatest cost drivers outside corrections departments were as follows:
> underfunded contributions to retiree health care for corrections employees ($1.9 billion);
> states’ contributions to retiree health care on behalf of their corrections departments ($837 million);
> employee benefits, such as health insurance ($613 million);
> states’ contributions to pensions on behalf of their corrections departments ($598 million);
> capital costs ($485 million);
> hospital and other health care for the prison population ($335 million); and
> underfunded pension contributions for corrections employees ($304 million).
Among the participating states, costs outside the corrections department ranged from less than 1 percent of the total cost of prisons, in Arizona, to as much as 34 percent in Connecticut.
The extra costs accounted for less than 5 percent of total prison costs in 16 states, 5 to 9.9 percent of total prison costs in nine states, and 10 to 19.9 percent of total prison costs in nine states (Arkansas,
California, Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, and West Virginia). In six states—Connecticut, Illinois, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas—20 to 34 percent of the total taxpayer cost of prison was outside the corrections department budget.”
(To complement this report, the authors have produced a series of fact sheets with details about each state’s spending.
The fact sheets are available on Vera’s website, at www.vera.org/priceofprisons
Benefits of Meditation ~ 3 Major Celebrities Who have Practice Daily Meditation for Years, it can’t All Be Wrong
I will introduce to you 3 very successful celebrities in the top of their game, and have been in their business a long time.
In fact, all 3 state that is daily meditation practice that has created their longevity.
There are 2 of them who are music moguls and once you hear their names you may be surprised.
There two are top performers in the music industry and both are multimillionaires as well.
The other party was a major screen actor, now a famous movie director and producer once you hear his name, it will also astonish you.
I share with you these power brokers to show you why you need to practice meditation too.
Before I tell you who they are I would like to share with you a SIMPLE, EASY, and requiring less than ONE MINUTE meditation practice, for the busy person who you might do.
I call it the 5 X 5 x 5 requiring less than a minute meditation practice which doesn’t take 20 or 30 minutes as done in a more traditional mediation program. It's because I believe FREQUENCY is better than length of practice.
One benefit is that you can increase the frequency of your practice throughout your day and get the same or I believe better results than the traditional approach above. Just increase the frequency and do it 5, 10 or 20 times throughout your day. Within less than a week, I promise your life will never be the same.
So here is a real benefit not only using it in mindfulness, (or if you are not feeling happy, you can use meditation to transition back into happy and joyful mood again.
But what it also does over time is that you will begin to lengthen out your breathe. What you are doing is shifting out of short fearful breathing and entering into a loving longer breath pattern. That being said, soon your life will become richer and you will become more ALIVE and present.
OK, now enters the dessert or the reason of interest, or the reason why you are reading this post.
Yes 3 Beatle’s, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney all began meditation at the beginning of their movement. However, Ringo Star by the way was uninterested in the practice. John and George have passes away, but today, Paul is the only living Beatle practicing.
So here is what Paul says on why and how he got enlisted.
“We’d seen Maharishi up North when we were kids. He was on the telly every few years on Granada’s People and Places programme, the local current-affairs show. We’d all say, ‘Hey, did you see that crazy guy last night?’ So we knew all about him: he was the giggly little guy going round the globe seven times to heal the world (and this was his third spin)”
To listen more to what Paul says is by viewing this video as to why he began and why he continues his daily meditation practice.
Katy Perry and Avid Meditator
“Singer and pop-celebrity Katy Perry has revealed that she begins every day with a Transcendental Meditation session to prepare her for work.”
Next we are going onto Kate Perry, a singer that many of the younger people follow. She suggests that living in her hectic, flying from one county from one gig to another. So out of a hectic lifestyle she took up meditation to keep her calm nerves when life in her words, “becomes so bizarre”.
She also said she meditates before creating a song and before she goes on the stage. So here is Kate’s video telling you why she meditates for you to view.
“Iconic actor, director, composer, filmmaker Clint Eastwood has been dedicated to his daily practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique for more than 40 years.”
Lastly, I decided to add a famous movie actor, director, and producer who has been in the movie scene for most of his life. He is so famous and has held a long career in show business which he suggests he was able to do because of his ability through meditation to create better grounding and enjoy a lasting career.
Woman Secret ~ Marriage is More about Playing House than Any of Us Could Ever Imagine (a lesson in How Emotional Quotient helps grow a partnership of two into a successful marriage)
Isn't Playing House a representation as a child of what the ideal family looks like? Human relationships back then were everything.
If many of us will look back at the days as a child we might realize what life was meant to be.
What represents real happiness unfortunately, one that many households have sadly forgotten.
Somehow, out of paying the bills and living from survival, we lose some sense of what life is meant to be.
I add the idea of playing house, because in our make believe world is what life and happiness were meant to be. It was relationships back then that really mattered and they are paramount even today.
Remembering from where true happiness comes, is what I wish to discuss, in our follow up conversation.
Just as the children playing house in the image above who see marriage as a progressive friendship.
Somehow, Hollywood and the Media are so fixated on the physical aspects of sex in marriage, or even non marital sexual relations, that the marriage partners have lost the idea of marriage as playing house and of building a marriage of friendship and a forever abiding relationship.
Marriage partners today have almost ignored that this relationship that began at the beginning of the antiquities, and that requires work. It is even an economic relationship, because both men and women have different roles to perform in marriage and unique strengths and propensities.
When I or my wife said, “I do” we never realized that this decision was to become the most important decision we two could make. In fact, all of us who enter this relationship of marriage, realize it is a do it yourself experience, and that there is no instruction manual offered as we all enter this (either to be happy or unhappy) relationship.
If we chose well, we will be very happy but if we don’t, it could be disastrous to both our emotional and physical health. In fact, statistics suggest that the first attempt in marriage, if it is a happier one, and is much better off, than getting a divorce and then being off again, in search for a second, or even a third partner.
Or once a marriage ends in divorce, statistics shows that the next marriage has a higher probability of failure. That’s unless the divorced party takes the necessary time to work on herself first, and refuses to enter back into a similar relationship too early, and she purposely takes better and more search time, before making the next choice.
In the movie “Ben-Hur” a Damascene rich merchant, lent Hur (played by Charlton Heston) his chariot with horses who stated to Hur, that he must place the faster horse on the outside and keep the slower steadier horse on the inside, to stabilize the ride and reduce the chance of his chariot flipping over.
Well marriage can be seen as something similar to the “Ben-Hur” chariot race. Somehow there needs to be a more emotionally mature person like the slower horse in a marriage relationship, to make it work. Any partner can play the part of the faster horse wanting his or her own way, but letting go of one’s ego and assuming the role of the slower horse to sustain a marriage, takes much more effort to do.
Let me talk about you purposely making a commitment towards you becoming like the slow horse as you become the more emotional mature partner. In fact, marriage therapists have discovered that it doesn’t take two people to make a marriage work, but one.
But it requires at least one emotionally mature person to save and keep your marriage ALIVE. Yes it is the slow horse or the more emotionally mature partner, who can create a huge difference in the marriage’s success.
However, saving the marriage cannot be done in the case of an emotional, physical or sexual abusive relationship. In fact 1 out of 5 marriages are said to be abusive in that case it is in your best interest to obtain help to leave your marriage.
But in most marriages, one person if the faster party is at least a good person, the more emotionally mature person in that marriage, can make the difference using Emotional Quotient (EQ) techniques, deciding between the marriage’s success and its failure.
In fact, it is found just like the slower horse in the Ben-Hur movie, the more mature partner can in fact; make even a less stable relationship become more stable but it may take some times to do.
Assume, that if your marriage is rocky and even if it may end up in divorce, you’re moving into a more emotional mature direction, will provide you in case you obtain a divorce, with a softer landing. So either case whether the marriage gets better or not, by you become the more mature partner, you will have created a sounder personal foundation.
Even, whether you decide to go it alone and eventually find a better partner, you will have learned more about yourself and learn more about what you desire next in a marriage partner, to create the next time round, a more enduring relationship.
So what does it mean to be emotionally mature? It is the ability as the videos links and the “Psychology Today” link below, states, gaining Emotional Quotient (EQ) is one’s ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.
Let’s face it, you have to start some where’s and starting on your own self to gain emotional maturity is your best solution.
If you and your husband need a therapist great it might be the best decision you will make to keep your marriage solvent.
However, it is not necessary to find a guru. Why? Because in the end, it is better that you take the initiative, to do this emotional work on yourself. Happiness is not fulfilled in marriage as much as most people think; it is because true happiness is a personal choice and not necessarily a collective decision.
Therefore, to begin to own your own life again, you may be required to find some QUIET time alone to think deeply about what is really important, in what you need to do to first of all, for you to become happy, and secondly, to make your marriage better.
Becoming emotionally mature means that you must get rid of any of your “Soap Opera” emotional drama survival that you have experienced in the past.
You must take the initiative to learn to catch a few minutes of daily time in time-outs (by using Micro Meditation techniques we discuss here if necessary ‘see my other topics’), which is so you can listen DEEP inside yourself. By you taking this self -initiative over time you will begin to experience your higher self
Remember, all human beings of any race, color, gender or occupation have a higher self to guide them, and you may need to rely on its power more, through your applying daily micro meditation, to discover a heightened emotionally mature lifestyle, with or without a partner.
If you will do this emotional work on yourself, whether you save your marriage or not, whatever will be the outcome, I promise, you will walk on firmer ground, by you becoming more emotional mature practicing quotient (EQ) to your own relationship of marriage.
Headline of the Week: Dallas Sniper Kills 5 Officers, Wounds 7
A day after this incident, I want to share with you a FEEL GOOD story that happened to me in an unusual place and time, in a COSTCO parking lot, shortly after the shooting.
An event that happened to me that created UNITY rather than division. Unity not division needs to be our discussion in days ahead.
The event is one that happened to me when leaving COSTCO and what transpired was something wonderful and hopeful that could have happened to you as it did to me.
Even though this event was not unique, what transpired afterwards was the hope of American and the Unity that each American seeks.
To begin our story, I and my wife, are primarily vegans. So when I shop at COSTCO I mainly purchase vegetables and fruits because I believe they have some of the best produce and a fairly good selection too.
So here I am coming out from the store with many other paper products in the bottom of my cart and a box of fruits and vegetables were on top. So I am sure you can guess what happened.
So I hit a small stone coming outside and all of a sudden the box with all of our fruit fell onto the parking lot. The next thing, there were tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries and black berries rolling every which way all over the pavement.
So here to my rescue came several people out of nowhere.
Just image the scene that followed, as 4 people rushed forward to help. All of us were intently picking up these fruits and vegetables and placing them back into containers.
I remember the face of this wonderful Caucasian woman who told me her story that the same thing happened to her last week. I saw an African American gentleman jump in and help.
Who also came to my rescue were a man either from India or Pakistan and an Oriental gentleman too. It was as if a whole group of United Americans rushed forward to help and what was so special was that this all happened one day after all of those tragic shootings.
I swear that what happened to me in a COSTCO parking lot brought out the best of America during my moment of need. It brought out the best of people of many different races, religions and cultures during that day, somehow, we all became one.
I was reading in a local paper about the Dali Lama and an illustration on love. What was very interesting is that it was to whom he showed love.
If you saw the movie, "Seven Years in Tibet" with Brad Pit, it illustrated his younger years as this picture depicts.
We hear a lot of news that is anti-Islam in the press, In particular over "Radical Islam" also a lot of carnage.
I am not trying to defend ISIS tactics, only to suggest, that the Dali Lama in a meeting, showed love to someone of the Islamic faith.
Even Jesus told us we were to love all people. Christians, Jews and Moslems all over the world feel that way too, but to see love in action is what I wish to share, coming from the Dali Lama.
I wish to share this incident with you in our blog so you can see how important love is to all persons, no matter whether it is race, religion, or culture.
We all desire love, and it is something we need to explore, to reduce the tensions we see within our world.
The Dali Lama was at a luncheon in Salt Lake City Utah. The author of the article in the Deseret News,
Carmen Rasmusen saw the Dali Lama in action that day.
Here is what her husband saw happen at a luncheon for him.
She talks about John Lenin’s song in expressing what she believes is how the Dali Lama’s lives in the song "Imagine".
As a testament to this belief she tells us that her husband experienced a touching moment during this luncheon meeting.
“My husband said he saw the most touching moment he saw at the luncheon was when His Holiness the Dali Lama walked over to a table where a Muslim man was seated. He stood, and the Dali Lama took his heat in his hand and gently cradled it against his shoulder. There they stood, embracing, and the entire room wept.”
“A brotherhood of man” as expressed in the Lenin “Imagine” song,
As Lennon continues Carmen writes,
“You may say I’m a dreamer/ But I’m the only one/ I hope someday you join us/ and the world will be one.
I have added another memorable example that follows in this beloved video of the Dali Lama trying to spread peace in Ireland.
The Dali Lama teaches us how to become more ALIVE by increasing one’s inner value. He is in Ireland talking about accepting religious tolerance among all religion traditions.
I remember on a date trying to get the romance thing down as a young man of 18.
I took out a sweet young girl much like the person I married. I made what I believed back then a STUPID remark, which I did out of jest.
This girl was of a very delegate nature so I said it to shock her.
I said to her “You are what you eat”, when we were in the restaurant and eating hamburgers and fries.
To my amazement that day as a High School senior, she considered me a scholar. Now that I am a doctor, well, I guess she was right.
Somehow, it took me years of even having cancer in remission to learn this valuable lesson and that I needed to own this decision.
What I have learned from that experience is that owning our own lives, is making decisions that improve our way of life including our health.
Science today is not only interested in the benefits of Micro Meditation on mindfulness, but also into what bacteria lives in your gut. Yes, science is finding out, that it is your choice of diet that offers your own good or bad health. Because science has discovered this truth, “You are What You Eat”.
The problem is that the everyday war we experience whether political or even in life begins with what we eat for today. And it tends to be a war of our own making. Ignorance still tends to be a human problem that we take on how we were taught how and what to eat by unknowing parents.
I only relate that hamburger and fries High School experiences because what I thought was humorous pronouncement, is what I learned today is rather profound. In fact, it is something that a many American’s have seldom considered. Otherwise Fast Food business would be serving a different menu.
If we go back to Europe during the Feudal system, our diet back then was predominantly plant based until around the Industrial Revolution, where cattle and sheep and herding became once again became our predominant source of nutrition. Today, we have moved into pesticides and preservatives.
Somehow, diet is more important than one could ever imagine, going along with exercise. However, it seems as if our cultural norms tend to gravitate on gradual erosion from good to worse over time.
You have heard the expression: Garbage In / Garbage Out. What is interesting this also has to do with what we eat as much as a statement about our technology?
For example, now we add so many preservatives and also chemicals into our foods. We moved from a plant based diet into even worse, into a manufactured diet. Each regression keeps getting us in the hole in the area of nutritional benefits, over time.
The real question that people need to ask with all the junk food, Fast Food, and our manufactured diets, is, “What is going on in our gut?” Why has our diets since the beginning of Mc Donald's’ Los Angeles in the 1950’s and it having progressively gone from better to worse?
Just see what I ate when I was a teenager to see that what I thought was good for me back then, is no longer the diet that science has discovered. So why have our diets today descended all to the way down to the eternal abyss.
Case in point, once the tobacco companies saw legislation aimed at reducing its market share, through anti-smoking and anti-second hand smoking, they raced with their cash to purchase major shares in Nabisco and General Foods.
If you couldn’t trust them with your kids and Camel Joe, how can you trust them now that they have entered into the food processing business? What does that suggest about our children’s future nutrition?
So recently, science has not only entered the area of mindfulness, but is also entering the area of diet. The question of being a machine or an organism not only is crossing mind studies but also studies on what people eat, and what type of bacteria or micro-organisms when one eats congregates in your stomach.
If we believe as the mind sometimes thinks the body is a machine, then we are willing to eat anything, which we believe tastes good, even that which is not good for us. However, science is beginning to see the human, like any animal, as an organism and what we eat, creates the bacteria and micro-organisms that can either be harmful or beneficial. The more crap we eat, the worse off is the bacteria in our GUT.
So now we have to ask the question what is in your diet? Do you eat, a more plant based diet? Or do you eat a more animal based diet? Or you eat a more manufactured pesticide, and chemical based diet offered to us to your by ex-tobacco executives. Yes those companies that marketed cigarettes by Camel Joe, to children. Today it is sugar and red die based cereals. Even the Oriel cookie, might be filled with waste.
Another question we have to ask is, “If you and I were to eat a better diet, would many of the diseases most of us receive, such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes disappear? If that were the case, I am certain that the pharmaceutical business could go out of business and you would see fewer boring or embarrassing TV ads.
My pronouncement is this, it is not only mindfulness, that is a choice, but also what you eat. If you could change your diet from a meat or manufactured based to about 90% plant based diet how would your life change? After in remission from cancer, today I purposely eat less meat and mostly a plant based diet.
After having Chemo treatment about 3 months ago, and switching to a more plant based diet, and if I eat meat 3 or 3 times a week it is usually fish or chicken for protein. But after 3 months after Chemo, and having stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, I bounced back in 3 months from my doctor’s surprise.
My belief is that now that I added a more plant based diet, I have allowed more plant based organism to populate my stomach, and that these organisms are less toxic, and placed my cancer in short order in remission. I also added a special supplement that I take to that is said to attack cancer and also plaque and reduces inflammation. The supplement is called MMF and I will share it with you later.
So remember when you go to the grocers this week. Do yourself a favor, and walk by all the center aisles filled with meats and that other manufactured crap from Kraft, Nabisco and General Foods, or Pepsi (Lays), that is temptingly available and bolt directly to the fruit and vegetable aisles. Next run to the cashier and make payment and exit undeterred.
