Women Empowerment ~ If You want to Experience a Positive Life, or Get a life, STOP Watching TV or Reading the Daily News
"Woman Take No Government!" by Victoria Woodhull
Victoria Claflin Woodhull, later Victoria Woodhull Martin was an American leader of the woman's suffrage movement. In 1872, Woodhull ran for President of the United States using the above slogan.
I didn't add a picture of Thoreau but decided to add a picture of Mrs. Woodhull because like Thoreau she believed in smaller government and was a powerful force in the US Woman movement.
There are two positive ideas that came via his experiences of Thoreau's I gain on his Walden Pond discourses, which we have already discussed in several of our Blog posts, the first is:
“An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.”
The second comes in the early evening when most of us rush home to watch the TV news, or if we have time read more of it sitting in our "Lazy Boy" couches, in hopes to relax before retiring to bed:
“And I am sure that I never read any memorable news in a newspaper. If we read of one man robbed, or murdered, or killed by accident, or one house burned, or one vessel wrecked, or one steamboat blown up, or one cow run over on the Western Railroad, or one mad dog killed, or one lot of grasshoppers in the winter, - we need never read of another. One is enough. If you are acquainted with the principle, what do you care for a myriad instances and applications?”
To Thoreau, next to morning walking meditation, the second choice you should make to live a happy life is to refuse to watch on TV or read the daily news. Or better still reading what Altucher says.
“I’ve worked at newspapers… you’re basically told to find the scariest thing you can, and write about it in the scariest way possible… every day is Halloween at the newspaper.” by James Altucher ~ famed Journalist
I have decided to add 6 Reasons to Choose to Be Happy and why it is best not to watch the NEWS either on TV or read about it either.
So here are 6 reasons I discovered from the link below.
1. Watching the News is Depressing. ~ Every time I take more than a few minutes to listen, I get a headache. I decided that instead of taking Tylenol it is far cheaper to refuse to watch the news of TV.
After making that commitment I have found that after taking my morning walk, and reducing to watch the News on TV, whether ABC, CBS, or NBC, NY Times or the Washington Post, because they are all depressing. I have become a whole lot happier person refusing to watch or read any of their commentaries, whether it is national or local, their daily messages are all distressing.
2. It is like watching a Reality TV Show that isn’t rally like Reality. Think about it, what you see on the Daily news, is it happening to you right now. No, it is creating an unreal situation. Most of it is fear-mongering and I know it is not real because any thing that causes more fear in my life, is not wholesome to my psyche nor should it become a part of my reality. Most of the events are even biased.
3. Everything in the News is beyond your circle of Influence. ~ This is the most important part of why watching the news is useless. What can I do if some event happens so far away, I can't do anything about it anyway. So I should I become for the rest of night and get less sleep because I go to bed rattled.
4. You don’t need to be informed to live a worthwhile life. ~ This is most important. Living a worthwhile life is by making a personal decision to be a person of value and a person who contributes the best you can with the talents you've got. Knowing what is negatively happening may even take you off course of being your best.
5. You’ll Never Know it all any way. ~ Why do you want to clutter your mind anyway with none useful information. Leonard Cohen said like was all about Suzanne is his album, "And she shows you where to look among the garbage from the flowers". Well, most of the news you hear on TV is just that. garbage.
6. You can catch up quickly if you need too. ~ For those of you who peruse the Internet daily, I can go onto it and grab few snippets off of titles here or there, without having to follow much deeper into the print. Using the Internet, You can catch up quickly even if it is before an election if you need to.
My belief is that the Internet is there to democratize us rather than increase "Big Brother's" influence.
In fact, Henry David Thoreau helps me make an election decision very quickly without even having to surf on the Internet or gather any other information. Using his quote below, I can quickly obtain who is my choice, without having to post up a quick Boolean question on Google.
As for how I can make a quick election decision, I have a very simple Thoreau quote which I can decide on within less than 2 minutes.
I will review the brochures of all the candidates applying this simple Thoreau statement. By applying this quote below, I have been right with whomever I feel is the best candidate, every election period.
Try it yourself so you don't have to struggle taking a month to decide, during this 2016 or any other election cycle.
"That government is best which governs least"
Henry David Thoreau
Did you know something as simple as creating a "Complaint Free Lifestyle", for 21 days, could actually improve your life forever. You have heard of the "Law of Attraction".
Well in a way, creating a "Complaint Free Life" (even materialistically) could put you on a path towards, not only experiencing a more spiritual life, but also pay big dividends through not thinking negative.
What may actually happen is whether from either God or the Universe, which ever you believe works best for you, this lifestyle can create a lifestyle, one that you have never imagined possible.
Yes, I wear this rubber bracelet (see link below) which says, "Be Complaint Free" to remind me each day, why I want to curb any negative conversations I might spread about others.
In fact, I have been living this premise now for close to 10 or more years. So how did complaining begin with most of us including myself?
Do you remember a day or two when you were sick and complained about any of your aches or pains. One thing you probably noticed was all the attention from family and friends, that came your way. It was so ingratiating that you might have decided, let's do it full time. So now and again, if the weather was bad, or you had a bad day, you told your friends, and they responded the same, "Oh poor Suzanne".
Another issue that might have arose is as you complain about not receiving something you really wanted, and then instead of asking and answering why and how you screwed up, you begin to say to others or too yourself, it was your teacher, your boss or someone else's fault for you not receiving its response.
The problem is that when you pass the buck by blaming the problem on someone else, other than your taking responsibility for you making a mistake, you postpone any positive learning experience, which can reduce the chances of it not happening again, and you moving yourself onto a higher plane.
Another example when you began your criticizing trend, it happened when you were a little girl and your brother or sister was up to something and you saw it all go down, Soon one of your parents comes sweeping down on your brother or sister, asking you what had happened. By finding fault and being a tattle tale, you were rewarded. Therefore, by seeing your other sibling receive a time out or a swat, you were rewarded for passing on the blame.
And by being a tattle tale you became smug and pleased that it wasn't you receiving any punishment. So complaining about someone else's mistakes whether at home or at school, gave you an instant reward. Some kids of this nature were sometimes referred to as "Teachers Pet".
Maybe too that same attitude can stretch into why many of us feel better off, after seeing someone worse off than ourselves. In fact, some people make a habit of put downs, using this same principle, hoping to receive an ego boost, whenever they make a sarcastic comment that is shared with a spouse of a friend.
One idea to counteract this putting down others trend through attacking or unkind speeking, came from Thumper in Bambi when he said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, well then say nothing at all". I remembered that quote and I have taken it to heart because every time I complain about someone else, somehow it makes me feel bad inside. If you want to feel up most of your day, then saying less is a far better strategy.
So if criticizing or complaining makes you feel yucky as it does to me, then maybe Thumper's reasoning is right. By you spending too much time throughout your day gossiping might in the beginning make you feel powerful, but once you spilled such negative comments, you will soon realize a few minutes later and as your day progresses, this high acts like taking a drug, which may make you feel high initially, but much later on as it does to me, makes me feel depressed.
And if you make it a habit it might create for you unconsciously, you not even knowing it, many unhappy days. And if that habit progresses and becomes a pattern, many unhappy months and years ahead. Therefore, that is why taking the 21 day ""Be Complaint Free" commitment might be the best thing you could ever do. In fact, for me it has changed my life.
In the past, I have never been a big complainer, but merely an occasional complainer, but I took the pledge, because I believed that even in small incidences of complaining, I was a loser because I was stunting my personal progress.
So I took the 21 day pledge many years ago, because I believe that even with accepting small complaints here or there, it can over time still create a negative pattern.
Most of us complain here and there. However, those of us who do so occasionally, it isn't quite as bad as those who make it a habit. The reason constant complainers are a problem is because they have become victims, of their complaining habit. As victims they tend to stunt their growth, and growth is why we are here.
You have probably met men and women who are constantly complaining. If you have ever met a happy habitual complainer, you are rare. Because the one's I have met, that are constant complainers, they tend to seldom smile, and all are very unhappy folk. They're just like the woman in the picture above.
Some in fact, complain to receive attention. When a person complains once in a while she may receive attention once in a while and most people realize that is life, and we all have our good and bad days.
However, folks who are constantly complainers we all know that have few friends, because everyone who knows them, knows that they are unhappy, and don't want to be brought down with their complaining nature. What was at one time a habit that received attention as a child, once it becomes a habit, and that person joins the constant whiners club, most people simply will ignore them.
That is why I know that most constant complainers live lonely lives. It is because most people are trying to experience happiness in life, so whenever they meet such people they will simply turn the other way to avoid them.
You have heard the expression that "Birds of a feather stick together" well most people will decide to remove such people from their friend list. And once you are eliminated by so many people's friends lists, your life has no other means but you being lonely.
I have found because I have tried to live "Complaint Free Life", people must think I am fun to be around and today I have more friends than one could ever imagine.
One of the reasons for this I believe is because I can actually keep what a person says to me in confidence without spilling it all over. Also, I have become a better listener. Become both a confidant and a great listener and guess what. your friend list will explode.
If you want to become effervescently happy, and have so many friends you could ever imagined, do like I did, and join with me, "A Complaint Free Life", because will will be glad you did. I have added a few links and how to purchase "A Complaint Free Life" band, so you can put into practice over the next 21 day, to begin to live daily this way.

Loving Yourself ~ Rebounding ~ A Physical Method to Combat Cancer, Heart Disease, or as a Preventative
Back in the ancient times, where most of our DNA began, people were physically active. Many people whether they were hunters or herders had to walk for miles from one area of the country to another, whether to find game or find better pastures.
One of the problems as civilization grew was the less mobile or physical people became.
Now onto modern times, most people in society believe in becoming more sedentary as each generation passes.
To counteract that trampolining, is a way you can increase OXYGEN and movement within your lymphatic system. As you bounce, gravity makes the lymphatic system move cleaning and removing toxins from your body and increasing your health. Walking, running, exercising at the gym, are all ways you can use. I run up and down my stairs often throughout my day as another means of rebounding.
The main problem is that our DNA is structured from our ancient forefathers, who were very active and when we begin to become less active, atrophy sets in and we can begin to spiral health-wise downwards. Maybe people can get away with it for the first 50 years of age, but once they hit their 60's or 70's this sedentary lifestyle catches up on them. Soon health issues begin to rise.
Well I had stage 4 cancer with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma last Christmas 2015. The first reaction of most people is to slow down and to give their body a rest. That was not what I decided to do. I decided that instead I would become even more active. So the first thing I did was begin to walking 3 miles a day in the desert close to may home. Walking up and down hills in the desert, is a form of rebounding.
Guess what, after 9 months of walking and taking a strong supplement called Military Multi-nutrient Formula or (MMF), my life radically turned around. I believe that rebounding turned my life around Yes, and with my last visit seeing the Physician Assistant (because of my improvement, I no longer need to see my Doctor) , I am now in remission. My doctor marvels at my quick turnaround.
So what is the science behind this strategy? If you know anything about the body there is blood that moves through arteries and veins forcing nutrients into cells throughout your body. However, what eliminates many of the wastes is your lymphatic system. Keeping it vibrant is so important.
Most toxins and diseases in your cells move out of your body through your lymphatic system. So movement creates a fluid lymphatic system, however being sedentary keeps many of those diseases in. My walking and doing exercise and constant movement daily, has helped, and with taking such good supplements, has helped my experiencing my stage 4 cancer remission.
So where does meditation enter? It is with adding increasing breath from the belly rather than from the chest. This is important because just like billows the wider you pull them apart and push them, the more air will come out. When you breath deeply this way it is taking in more OXYGEN which helps not only the blood, but the lymphatic system. So as I walk, I breath deeply, and after doing this an hour a day, I return home feeling great.
Also, as you move more often it allows more oxygen to enter and more carbon dioxide to escape. Did you know that cancer has a more difficult time to spread the more OXYGEN you take in. Shallow breathing doesn't help and learning how to breath properly, and deeply, and by increasing your movement, this daily practice, might save your life.
So you say you don't have cancer or heart disease, well that might be your case today. But rebounding and deep breathing each day, may act as an insurance for you to reduce any of these two illnesses becoming a unnecessary part of your life.
It is not enough to have health insurance hoping having it will ease any potential health problems. But remember, you have an obligation whether you can or cannot afford health insurance to take responsibility and breath deeply and become more MOBILE. Recollect, we humans still walk around in bodies we inherited from our ancient ancestors. So mobility was their regimen, and must be ours too.
Recall, even if you don't have these diseases, that quality of life becomes very important as you get older. You only have one life so become more MOBILE so as to live life the best you can. Wishing you all an active and wonderful quality of life. Dr. Steve
