Did you realize that BEING HERE is what being human is all meant to be?
Somehow, we slip out of our reason we are here and daily, fall onto a lesser plane of human existence.
Case in point, living in our FAST PACE world of technology and the acquiring of more things, and being in the strategic mind forgetting that our experience is one in fact, of experiencing a life of worry and fear.
Somehow, we act as a hamster on a treadmill going nowhere, and in doing so we have somehow a moved ourselves out from the true selves one of living in joy and of being fully human and ALIVE.
All of which you and I were all meant to experience here in this life or which was to be the life we were meant to live disappears.
Now you know the scenary and the canyons I see daily when I go on my walks. Welcome to Saint George, UT.
That is why I added the ideas of the Hunter-Gather society in an earlier post. It wasn't until we humans moved out from a culture of Hunting and Gathering into the Mesopotamia and the Nile, that we become so thought oriented. So why in some ways was this our step backwards?
If you will remember, Hunter-Gather and even Father Abraham, who also was a herder, had to move his herds from pasture to pasture, and Hunter Gathers had to follow the herd, so with constant movement there was an attachment to things.
This lifestyle, of letting go of things, allowed them to truly live, from their bodies while less from their minds. Instead of strategizing what new clothes they were to wear or home furnishings they would acquire, therefore to this wandering class, planning and mind dominance took second stage to being in their bodies and to their experience of being human.
Did you ever realize that your body can act as a filter to your mind and thoughts is because it is made up of both the earth as well as water? It is because your body is flesh and bones and spirit it can when you do walking meditation, it can drown your thoughts even if it is on a part time basis.
So every day I walk I bring the stars and the ocean with me. And doing so I forget about the possessions I own, that are back at home, or at least for 2 - 3 hours.
On my walks I have to be in my body because when I go up and down on the rocks and canyons, I have to leave my mind behind with all of my possessions, and let my body move, at its own slow pace, to avoid any slips and falls down any 30 - 50 foot ravines and being hurt or maybe even experiencing sudden death.
So how did this all happen? Once we enter the school system something switches, as our bodies become less of an influence on us and it is when our minds become more dominant.
It is as if our Egos become in charge, to take from our past to navigate us into the future because we hate to deal with life's uncertainties. The Ego tricks us into our thinking that we need it more than our bodies, to navigate our lives.
It does so by moving us out of from being present, and so from that day on we become unable to experience the true JOY of being fully present as we were when we were a child and being fully human. And as we did make that switch, we seldom realize that this navigation process has in fact, taken us out from our true nature of being.
I would like to add an analogy here as to what I think happens after we get older, and enter the world of the mind. I see the mind and the body differently now that I walk in the desert daily. It is as if my body has begun to act as a filter, to help me get out of my mind, and it is also able to take a rest by moving slower at the speed of nature.
My body while in the desert becomes a filter to rid me from my mental meanderings and therefore create within my life, more balance.
In the past, before taking to walking as a daily lifestyle, I saw my mind driving a Ferrari while my body was being locked in the trunk.
The reason I chose a Ferrari mind is because we believe the faster our minds drive, the faster we get to where we need to go. However, we are unaware that this is a false narrative. I have had a few friends who had fast cars crash and burn, and who now lie under daisies and tombstones.
So either driving or even moving through life fast may not always the best choice, for human existence. More often than not mind speed can in fact, take us away into an alternative direction and one that is not one of real human living.
However, now that I take 2 - 3 hour desert walks I now find that my body, now has time to drive, but my mind doesn't totally disappear, but instead stays seated quitter in the passenger chair. Letting my body be dominant for 2 - 3 hours, and then when I go back to work, which is when my mind gets back behind the wheel. But it isn't behind the wheel all day long, which before had been the case.
But something unusual now happens throughout my day which was not the case before. What has transpired is that my body and my mind, throughout the day both take turns, at the wheel, and guess what, my mind no longer gets upset, and now is experiencing less stress, it enjoys a joint partnership of being a passenger now and again throughout most of my day. In fact, they now enjoy trading places.
I added the video below so you can get to see what kinds of walks I go on and the images that I see.
