Why I believe 2/3rd's of Americans are an Unhappy Lot and How You can Build Your own Happiness, by Designing Your own Self-Happiness Blueprint. Let me Show You NOW, How to Begin.
My goal with writing this post is to illustrate to you how I believe your happiness can be achieved.
But before I tell you my ideas, here is what a recent Harris Poll discovered. It may surprise you.
Did you know that if we examine the recent Harris Poll it was found that only 1/3 or only 100 of the 300 million Americans in the US are truly happy. No wonder there is so much political unrest in the US today. something that we didn't see as evident as we saw in the past, and as we see today.
So what has happened to create such unhappiness of 200 million Americans strong, is what I intend to address here today.
Hopefully, my writing this post is for those 200 miilion unhappy people and I hope to offer any one of you who are apart of this group my solution.
So according to the Harris Poll: “Our happiness index offers insight into what’s on the minds of Americans today and is a reflection of the state of affairs in our country,” Regina Corso, Senior Vice President of the Harris Poll, said in a statement. “While the attitudes on the economy may be improving, we’re seeing that this is not translating into an improvement in overall happiness.
For certain groups, such as minorities, recent graduates and the disabled, they are actually sub-segments of the American population where ‘happiness’ has trended downward in the last couple years.”
The question is that happiness in America is very illusive and is available to only a few. So the question is this, first, what is causing so much grief and unhappiness, and second is there a solution.
If for instance that I were to survey 100 both men and woman who are applying their physical expertise on CBS's Nija Warrior and who spend between 3 - 6 hours a day in preparation, I would suggest that 99 out of 100 would say they were happy. Why would the opposite be happening to these folks?
Another simple test is to look at the life of Jesus, when up to 30 years of age Who would spend at least 80% of his time either as a carpentar or walking for long periods of time. So even in Jesus' day, phyisical endurance was a necessary part of his and everyone who lived during His time, and their existance some element of happiness.
And because I am happy and I have my own personal method of creating happiness within my own life, is that I believe this same answer is available to all human beings, if they are willing to follow these examples and my very own prescription.
Maybe I need to ask, what is your body made up of, if it isn't earth and water, so taking time every day, to get outside, and if possible exerience in nature, is a to my way of thinking a true method of both you and I experiencing life balance and happiness.
So what does it mean by you creating your very own Happiness Gym and what does it have to do with your and my happiness?
What is interesting as I go on my 2 hour walks in the desert each morning at 6 AM something takes place in me. When I did so the other day, the first thing I came upon was a colony of ants. In particular, I also chose this picture so you can see a similar scene in the desert and of where I daily walk.
There are so many physical opportunities around you today many of which the Kings and Queens of the previous era where not able to do. But you have to decide on what sort of activity is your passion.
There is jogging, walking, biking, swimming and even hiking and even climbing, golf and tennis. Whatever means you choose, make sure you do it using your very own consistant method and do it often.
Before you can ever be happy you have to build a solid foundation on which happiness can be built.
However, you can read so many 10 points surveys by googling for your answer, but none of their suggestions I believe will ever provide for you a true foundation. That is why I am sharing with you my idea of you building your very own Happiness Gym of some activity you have a passion to pursue daily.
My purpose in offering you my ideas on you creating your very own Happiness Gym is to provide for you a method I use to experience my own happiness daily.
I wake up every morning at or before 6 AM, and I am on my walk. Just like the ants before me, I believe daily physical activities are essential not only for your health but also for your own happiness.
What I noticed is that at the crack of dawn, not one ant sleeps in, and they are all physically active all day long. What is true for an ant I believe is also true for a human being because we all are a part of nature.
So seeing this ant colony in action it came to my mind isn't that what happiness is all about it's about which is activity? I found when I bumped up my walks from 30 minutes to 2 hours my happiness increased. And not only that but this happiness I experienced throughout the rest of my day.
It is because I believe too many of us, find it easier to sleep in, become less active, by doing as little physcial movement daily as possible. No wonder so many Americans are unhappy.
Then with the added distraction of our rising technologies we tend to spend too much time either watching TV, playing video games, socializing on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all throughout the day. It is as if our technology if we are not watchful, can in fact, take us away from that physical element and which my friends I blieve is the real foundation of your and my happiness.
No wonder, obesity is on the rise in America, and claiming as many or even more ives, than person's smoking.
What may suprise you is that finding happiness is really SIMPLE. But stay away from those Google happiness gurus that offer you their10 majic ideas, or they tell you to take two pills a day and promising that you will be happy forever. However, all of their advice I am afraid is not only useless but is also way too shallow and humanly unfulfilliing.
So why is my submitting to you that you practice by applying more physical activity throughout your day so important?
It is because if happiness is truly your goal to experiencing happiness but you have to find a method that will work for you best, I have found for myself, that taking 30 minute to 2 hours a day to add physicality of walking as I do each day, has made me a much happier person.
However, you have to find something to do each day that works for you. And why? It's because you have to find a way to get out of your head and away from your iphone each day for your happiness to grow, and the more physical you can become, the more chance your happiness will grow.
And if possible getting your body outdoors and even out into nature will make your body experience so much better. After my 2 hour daily walks, and my being in nature and experiencing plenty of vitamin D3 sunlight, doing so daily makes me smile from ear to ear.
So my philosophy is SIMPLE and it is that I believe that if humans will become more physically active daily that over 21 day of doing some physical activity you like, I promise, it will make you a lot happier.
Another example I submit, is that I didn't have to do a survey to Harris Poll experiment to know this is true, all you have to do is watch children at play. Children are naturally happy but why?
One thing you will notice about children is how physically active they are. Everyone of them doesn't have to be instructed in obtaining happiness like we adults, as to how to be happy. It is injborn in children and in us too (it's just that we have forgotten it). The difference between them and us is that we have lost our happiness along the way.
However it is adults who have fallen from their grace. And it is as Jesus said that it is us adults that need to examine how children live, and recognize that it is their constant mindless activity which they call PLAY, that makes them so happy.
I also believe that because children are not so much into their minds as adults, and because they are so physically active life. is why I believe that their physicality is the wellspring of their happy lives.
It is only when they become adults, is when their happiness declines. And you may be wondering why they are happy and you are not happy. This is where it being simple and is not easy is all about.
When children are young, they are mostly body people and less mind persons. I think that it is that our stinking thinking that we adults practice daily does to us all, and that makes as adults slightly insane. So how does this trend happnen you might say?
It is as adults, and especially as we parents train our children and even send them off to school, and teach them how to think and survive in this world, to get a job etc. it is when their happiness deminishes. In fact, this transition becomes so gradual from you and I being happy to becoming unhappy that most of us adults, have forgotten what happiness is.
Just like I saw in the ant colony in the early morning, ants because they don't have an over developed brain like us humans, they have happiness down to a T, which is another example I am also offering.
But if you will leave out this necessary foundation of inactivty, I promise you this, you will become much more like the other 2/3 of Americans who can and may never be happy.
It is because I believe that action must become an imporant part of who you and I become, because it is a necessary part of your and my human DNA.
And it is about you and I getting our bodies into the best physical shape that we possibly can, as much as you and U can do each and everyday.
