Kathy Bates on Welcoming Change, after her second chance on life, suggests she found a Fuller Life after Cancer, and I did too.
“After much consideration, I underwent a double mastectomy,” the Academy Award-winning actress reveals.
“Luckily, I don’t have to undergo radiation or chemo.
My family calls me Kat because I always land on my feet and thankfully this is no exception.”
In the August 2017 Parade magazine Kathy Bates, the 69 year old actress struggling with Ovarian and Breast Cancer over the past 14 years, Parade Magazine suggests.
"That Cancer and its aftermath changed her outlook on life profoundly", and she told Parade why.
She has become less reclusive, travels a lot and she said she enjoys every momen in her life more.
She also suggests life is tough on its own, but in spite of its up and down, she tries to be more present and grateful for every good experience that she had, and will have.
I going into my very own cancer experience experienced much of what she discusses too.
After cancer like Kathy, I find that I have been granted a second chance on life.
So what has she started to do that has changed her life. She said she goes on long walks and over time has even lost more than 55 pounds. She suggests that after losing all of that weight she feels more liberated today.
She also suggests to deal with her other desease of Lynohedemia or swelling or the joints, that avoiding both salt and alcohol, has really helped.
She spends more time doing TV than movies she said, and she now has two Yorkies as pets.
On the wild side which I realize too, once you have had cancer it brings us back Kathy and I into what I call as a second life or becoming a child again. So for pleasure she has returned back to playing an electric guitar, She suggest that replaying her guitar brings her a spirit of joy.
As for me, relearning Spanish has been a joy for me. I used to be fluent in both French and Spanish, but because I can use Spanish in the U.S, and I can't use French that I learned living in Canada, that I would mainly relearn Spanish and let my French the language I learned in my youth, go.
It is great we have advancives in medicine and also that we can learning anything we want including Meditation on the Internet, and how to experience true joy, something of which my parents could never enjoy.
