Loving Yourself ~ "The Constancy of the Now" or a further Addendum to Eckhart Tolle's classic,"The Power of Now"
I am quite certain that many of you have read or if not read, at least heard a short version of this boo "The Power of the Now" by Eckhart Tolle who can be seen in this picture.
I reference it here because I went on my walk today and returned, after more than 25 years of daily meditation, with a new vision of its power.
It's as if I going on my SLOW walks in the desert following the Master Jesus Himself, is how I discovered this.
Also, I reference also "The Power of Now" because Eckhart Tolle, insinuates what I am expressing here butI am expressing it in a very different way. The reason I am, is because people want certainty and not uncertainty. So by knowing how to find certainty from how to not, is what I discovered today.
The only permanence I am afraid that is the same to us day after day is simply being in the NOW, as Eckhart Tolle said within if any of you interpreted it is the Constancy of the NOW, of which I am uncovering here.
Jesus said it well, "Know the TRUTH and the TRUTH will make you FREE". Many Christians still haven't related to Jesus' true message of finding personal PEACE. I am sure being a desert follower Jesus discovered what I discovered on my walk too, of the constancy of the now as he further said:
It was in Matthew 6:26 where Jesus taught the Multitude: "Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or do they reap or gather into barns".
Buddha too discovered meditating under the Bodhi Tree he discovered that by his becoming awaken that he discovered the now. Meditation is only the tool of awakening, yet it is the now that is the reality that both Jesus and Buddha suggest of which all humans search but never find.
It is as if all of our knowledge meanderings and seeking riches and even the business of live, therefore, our search for truth outside rather then within, only creates more impermanence and uncertainty in our lives.
Think about what life offers us daily. It is as if the business of life doesn't offer us the certainty of which we as human beings desire. What life offers us is continuous changes in events, and as we age. So as we set out to discover certainty, here is what I discovered on my walk today below.
The only true formula in life and to experience less wandering and a more peaceful life, is that constancy only exists in the NOW, never in the PAST or even the FUTURE.
Therefore, on a daily basis begin to seek the NOW with greater frequency, throughout your day, because the NOW is the only constancy that is; was and will ever exist.
So to find true PEACE seek the NOW daily and as often as you can.
I have added a discussion of Eckhart's on his book "The Power of NOW" below. Enjoy! Dr. Steve
