Benifits of Meditation ~ Shit happens to 6 Billion Humans and not just You, but You can still choose to Be Happy
The whole premise of my blog, is examining life, from this 3rd Wave of Cognitive Therapy approach to living, coming from the book, “Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life” by Dr. Steven Hayes. I chose this book in particular because it is a WORKBOOK and not just a text. Something that you can work through on your own.
Living from its premise gives you the tools to become ALIVE and or authentic. I created this ALIVE blog is because I want you women to become as happy as me.
Cognitive Therapy has significantly changed over its inception due to recent brain scan research. As science researches the brain, it has discovered areas of the brain, where one will never be happy; from areas that one can enter and live within, and become happy. This is the very foundation of my ALIVE blog.
This extra discovery is what has been added into the 3rd Wave of Cognitive Therapy that Dr. Hayes has presented so expressively.
The major premise espoused by this book is that Pain is a human condition, but suffering is a choice, as well as happiness. The problem with humankind is we don’t know the difference between the two and assume them to be the same.
Here is Dr. Hayes abiding premise.
Pain ~ is a given. Family members die, people lose jobs, and then there is divorce, but even with all of these trials, life goes on. Somehow, we need to find a way to move on, which is what Cognitive Therapy is all about.
Suffering ~ is a choice. Yes pain is a given, but somehow the 5 Stages of Morning bit us in the ass, and become issues all human beings face of going through life’s grieving process.
What we experience is shock, anger, bargaining and depression. However, too many of us stay somewhere between anger or depression stages and remain in suffering because they refuse to get onto acceptance.
Getting to acceptance is what Cognitive Therapy tries to suggest, because once Pain is accepted and gone, happiness and pleasure can return. It is this staying in state of suffering within the middle stages of anger, bargaining and or depression is what human’s fail miserably.
Acceptance ~ is what we suggested here. This was also Cognitive Therapies first premise. We already discussed the concept of pain vs. suffering and that pain is a given among all humans, but suffering is a choice. And a better choice is to move through the 5 Stages to the last stage, of acceptance for a person to get on with her life.
Mindfulness ~ this is the concept of “Getting out of Your Mind”. This is the new wave of Cognitive Therapy in Dr. Hayes recent book. Due to brain research, Cognitive Therapy has progressed.
Cognitive Therapy began with the idea of remaining within the Left Top quadrants of your brain through apply positive thinking and self-esteem to move out from suffering. But through recent brain research, it has been found that a person remaining within his or her mind can never be happy.
This is where Dr. Hayes new translation from the old Cognitive Therapy 1st and 2nd Wave versions, differ. That is why there came a need to create a Cognitive Therapy 3rd Wave progression.
It is because a woman’s suffering will continue if she uses positive thinking because the left top mind is a judgmental foundation mind, and as long as one continues to judge, once one is in the mind positively, one can very easily drift back into negative thought, so suffering continues, without experiencing true happiness. That is why a radical change in philosophy became necessary.
Needless to say, Cognitive Therapy Wave 3 recognizes this mistake and has made an important adaptation. The whole issue of getting out of the mind, is what Buddhism calls becoming awake or in Christianity calls, being born again.
Brain research has discovered that most of us are living in our wrong minds, so suffering continues because we need to move out of our minds into our bodies which can act as a filter.
Most of our discussion is what people in Yoga have learned, through mindfulness which is how breath can get us out from our minds, and into the now. So by using breath this process can move a person into mindfulness and out from their mind, and where they can become truly happy. Getting out of the Left Top quadrant through breath is what you will learn how to do in my blog.
Values ~ so here is the last premise which is what do you stand for. What is truly important in your life? The book offers 10 variables of choice. Yes, you make the choice on all 10 Hayes values from 1. It starts with Marriage or intimacy, and progresses to 10. Health. I can tell you what all of those values are, but it won’t help you buy the book and apply all of what this book recommends.
The reason, I believe that you must purchase this book and continue to read my blog often, are because I will deal with many of Steven Hayes issues. Remember, that making change is not a single act, but is a process. The more you practice the better you will get.
Let’s face it; it has taken years for you to get screwed up, so it is going to take some time to get unraveled. So take your time, buy the Hayes book, and continue with my blog. My goal is to teach you Cognitive Therapy and relying on many of Dr. Hayes philosophies and I will add many more of my own.
The main reason I chose Dr. Hayes edition rather than another author is because it is a WORKBOOK and he brings the concepts down to a simple level that anyone can understand. Because it is a WORKBOOK, he has not only simplified its theories but he has added practices that you might do, to learn how to become truly happy.
My role in my creating this blog is towards educating women, and help you choose to no longer suffer, and over the long haul, get out of your mind, and learn that it is possible in this life to become incredibly happy.
