I was reading in a local paper about the Dali Lama and an illustration on love. What was very interesting is that it was to whom he showed love.
If you saw the movie, "Seven Years in Tibet" with Brad Pit, it illustrated his younger years as this picture depicts.
We hear a lot of news that is anti-Islam in the press, In particular over "Radical Islam" also a lot of carnage.
I am not trying to defend ISIS tactics, only to suggest, that the Dali Lama in a meeting, showed love to someone of the Islamic faith.
Even Jesus told us we were to love all people. Christians, Jews and Moslems all over the world feel that way too, but to see love in action is what I wish to share, coming from the Dali Lama.
I wish to share this incident with you in our blog so you can see how important love is to all persons, no matter whether it is race, religion, or culture.
We all desire love, and it is something we need to explore, to reduce the tensions we see within our world.
The Dali Lama was at a luncheon in Salt Lake City Utah. The author of the article in the Deseret News,
Carmen Rasmusen saw the Dali Lama in action that day.
Here is what her husband saw happen at a luncheon for him.
She talks about John Lenin’s song in expressing what she believes is how the Dali Lama’s lives in the song "Imagine".
As a testament to this belief she tells us that her husband experienced a touching moment during this luncheon meeting.
“My husband said he saw the most touching moment he saw at the luncheon was when His Holiness the Dali Lama walked over to a table where a Muslim man was seated. He stood, and the Dali Lama took his heat in his hand and gently cradled it against his shoulder. There they stood, embracing, and the entire room wept.”
“A brotherhood of man” as expressed in the Lenin “Imagine” song,
As Lennon continues Carmen writes,
“You may say I’m a dreamer/ But I’m the only one/ I hope someday you join us/ and the world will be one.
I have added another memorable example that follows in this beloved video of the Dali Lama trying to spread peace in Ireland.
The Dali Lama teaches us how to become more ALIVE by increasing one’s inner value. He is in Ireland talking about accepting religious tolerance among all religion traditions.
