Motion Therapy is a simple concept to explain, but it is not easy to do.
My premise is you doing something as simple as a daily walk in the park, can change your life and it is that simple.
But doing it in nature daily is where it is not so easy and becomes a little sticky.
First of all you need to get on a good pair of walking shoes and go for a walk as often in nature as possible, which is something that is simple but not easy to do.
The reason it is hard is because you already think you know the right way to walk and also the right way to breath because you have been doing these same two practices now for the last X years of your life.
And here is the arm chair shrink telling you right now that everything you learned when you were a teenager was not right. And that he is about to offer you a simple way to totally change your life, and forever.
Many of us will go visit a shrink and pay him a fortune to teach you how to think right, but once you learn this simple method, I believe that your whole life will change, and if yo u are seeing a therapist, you won't have to see him much longer. However, to make it yours, you just have to have the will power to follow it through.

I like to talk about the transition of you as a child and now you as an adult. I like to use this analogy because once you became an adult two radical changes took place, the first is that your walking became more machine like, and your breathing became more faint. These are to changes you made which today, makes you less productive and happier than you were during your childhood days.
What you need to change is simple to do, but making that change and making it a habit, is not easy. Believe me, I have talked to many people and many of them take my advice for a few days, and after a little encouragenemt from me, go right back to their old, comfortable ways.

If you have heard about Neuroplasticity, you know that Neuroscience is discovering that how you think, makes a huge difference in how happy you really are. One problem tha tmost of us face, is that we think Tops/down or that we live within the top part of our minds. This part is very competitive and very critical, which I believe creates much of our unhappiness in life.
So just by you changing both your walk and your breathing deeply, will through Neuroplasticity, retrain you into Bottom/up thinking by relearning how to think like you did as a child.
What happens is that the neurons in your brain when you begin to walk and breath this new way will begin at the center of your brain called the hypothalamus and pituitary gland which is a more loving mind, and when you need information you will go up into your minds higher region. But you don't stay in that higher mind region. I also told you that the natural drug of seratonin, is more active in that region often called the LOVE CENTER, of your brain.
When walking this way you are satisfying a more PRIMATIVE part of your brain that is why I often refer to it as PLEASANT WALKING, which is how our ancestors used to walk, and walking this way they were a lot happier people than we are today. When I walk this way serotonin kicks in and my days feel less rushed and a lot happier too. No need taking drugs, when what is available to you each day is this natural high.
But basically, learning how to walk this way will help you think more postive and it will allow you to spend more of your day within that peaceful center region o your brain. In fact, this is the same region that a ferocious mother lion, nurses and loves her baby cub, from this mind center region. That is why walking properly to me is an important mind shift, and is powerful stuff.
So now that I told you how wonderful life for you will become lets let you know what two changes you will have to make.
1. Most of us walk on even ground and we drive as close to the store entrance as we can so we don't have to walk as far. So in walking you walk placing one foot in front of the other. However, whenever you walk or hike in nature you have to change your walking style to accommodatue the rocks and uneven ground. When walking when the grouind is uneven and there are rocks in the path, you have to walk from side to side to gain better balance. What you will also notice is that when you are walking to keep your balance your hips will begin to sway a bit more when walking more side to side.
I found the more I walk in nature the more I gain this same rhythmic way at home. In fact, it looks more like a dance than a walk. Little do people know that you get more of the natural high serotonin, walking this side to side way. That is why the ancients were happier first of all they walked this way and second, they walked more than we do today. They rarely sit which we do too much of in our modern times.
2. Most of us breath from our lungs and don't breath all the way down to our diaphram. As children we breathed all the way down, but once we became adults we got lazy and started to breath shallow. Making this change alone, will create for you a more meditative life.
